BAIRD, Texas -

An accident on Interstate 20 between Baird and Putnam Wednesday evening sent one driver to the hospital, and authorities said alcohol may have been involved.

Law enforcement officers told KTXS that a car was traveling east on the interstate at a high rate of speed when it hit a median barrier, then veered into an 18-wheeler.

The car ended up in the ditch.

The driver, an Arizona man, was taken to Hendrick Medical Center with head injuries. The truck driver was uninjured.

As of Thursday morning, the driver from Arizona was discharged from the hospital, and the accident was still under investigation.
