An inmate in the Brown County Jail assaulted two jailers in less than 24 hours.
Sheriff Bobby Grubbs said the 23 year old inmate now faces two aggravated assault charges on top of a long list of others.
Joe Smith, 23, fractured one jailers shoulder and sent another to the hospital with mouth and head injuries.
Jailer Zachariah Lundy was attempting to collect cleaning supplies from inmate Joe Smith's cell, then authorities said Smith head-butted Lundy in the face three times.
Jail Sergeant, Chester Land, fractured his shoulder while dealing with Smith the same day.
As Smith was being restrained, he spit on jailers.
"We've had an ongoing situation with this inmate, involving where he took a spoon and made it a shank, and that was intended to use on a jailer," said Sheriff Bobby Grubbs.
Sheriff Grubbs said this shows the violent atmosphere jailers work in every day.
"This is where I need experienced officers; this is where turnover makes a difference," said Grubbs.
Of the 152 inmates being held in the Brown County Jail, 77 are maximum security inmates.
Assistant Jail Administrator, Les Karnes, has worked in the jail for 10 years and has also experienced assault.
"It's my duty to the community; I took the job knowing the risks
