KTXS captured six awards – including three first-place honors – in the 2013 Texas Associated Press Broadcasters contest.
Those winning first-place honors were:
*- KTXS meteorologist Mark Rowlett for his Sept. 19, 2012, 6 p.m. weathercast,
*- KTXS photographer Nick Bradshaw for “Photojournalism-Individual,” and
*- Bradshaw for “Deadline Editing: General News.”
KTXS reporter Jennifer Kendall and Bradshaw received a second-place award for “Feature (Serious)” for a report on “Mystery Still Surrounds the House of Yahweh.”
Meanwhile, KTXS sports reporter Casey Keirnan captured an honorable mention for a feature on the Anson Tigers.
In addition, KTXS staffer Chelsea Humphrey and Bradshaw received an honorable mention for “Enduring Spirit: Possum Kingdom Rebuilds after Wildfires.”
KTXS competed in Division 4, which included TV stations from Abilene, Midland-Odessa, Sherman-Denison, Wichita Falls, Lubbock, and Beaumont-Port Arthur.
