Local volunteer firefighter sentenced to 15 years in prison for church arson
The volunteer firefighter accused of setting the Hamby Methodist Church on fire plead guilty on Thursday and will be going to prison.
Back in March, 25-year old Taylor Partain admitted to authorities that he set the fire that partially burned the Hamby Methodist Church.
Partain took a plea deal on Thursday and was sentenced to 15 years in prison. He'll also have to pay a restitution fee for the damages that he caused.
Investigators suspected Partain was responsible for setting several other grass fires in Jones County, but prosecutors dropped those charges as part of the plea deal.
