ABILENE, Texas -

The Mall of Abilene said they have added security at their movie theater because of the Colorado movie theatre shooting. The mall said increased security will be present until further notice.

George Spindler, an Abilene Police officer, said the police "were going to make sure that we have an increased presence as requested."

Spindler said the Premiere Cinema has not decided whether to hire police officers in addition to mall security, but he said the police will accommodate security requests by the theater.

"Officers will be directed to be in that area to provide a presence and be sure that the community feels safe about what's going on tonight," Spindler said.

Spindler said the situation in Colorado was "almost indefensible."

He also said, "citizens need to come together to make sure needs are being met and that the community is doing the best they can to reach out to those that are hurting right now."
