ABILENE, Texas -

Thirteen of the 33 horses sent to Rescue the Animals now have new homes.

Other people have expressed interest in adopting the remaining horses, but those adoptions are not final.

The Runnels County Sheriff's Office seized the horses from Sandra Bannister of Winters. They said they found one horse dead, and another had to be put to sleep. Bannister was arrested earlier this month. She has been charged with two counts of animal cruelty.

If you want to adopt one of the horses, they are being cared for at the Abilene Animal Shelter. If you can't adopt one, donations of hay bales or bags of food are appreciated.
