ABILENE, Texas -

Your computer could be infected with a virus without you even knowing about it.

At the end of this article you'll find a link to check your computer.

Internet hackers ran an online advertising scam infecting hundreds of thousands of computers all around the world.

The scam is being referred to as Malware and government officials are stepping in to set the problem straight.

The F-B-I has taken over the faulty servers but gave up that job Monday.

"What's going to happen Monday is that you're not going to be able to get on the internet and your computer is basically going to act like you have some kind of virus." Cassie Hobbins, technology specialist, said.

You can identify in a number of different ways whether your computer has been affected with Malware.

If you have experienced icons disappearing, your computer not shutting down properly or website glitches it's likely that your computer has been infected.

If you're computer is clean, a green screen will appear on your computer telling you that it's okay and hasn't been affected with the software scam.

But if your computer screen turns red, Malware has been detected on your computer and you should contact a technology expert immediately.

Although the internet connection block will only take place for a few hours, the long term affects of Malware could be damaging to your computer.
