A 26-year-old man was arrested Sunday in San Angelo after displaying a knife and apparently trying to kidnap a woman in the parking lots of a supermarket.
Monty Fate Parker (DOB 5/13/86) was arrested and charged with aggravated kidnapping. He was also charged with possession of narcotics paraphernalia.
At about 12:44 a.m. Sunday, San Angelo Police responded to the Wal-Mart located at 610 W. 29th Street to a woman reporting that someone had attempted to stab her.
Officers arrived and met with the victim, Dorothy Chambers. She reported that she was loading groceries into her car when a man came up behind her. He then forced her into the car.
Chambers reported that the suspect demanded that the she get in and drive him ?somewhere.? The victim began to fight back and scream for help. She said that the suspect displayed a knife, and she grabbed his arms to keep him from stabbing her.
The victim kept screaming for help, and people in the parking lot heard the victim?s cries for help and came her aid.
Upon seeing people responding to the screams, the suspect fled from the scene. Witnesses provided officers detailed descriptions of the suspect and the direction that he had fled.
Sgt. Daniel Williams located the suspect in area of 33rd and Erin streets. He was taken into custody without incident. Witnesses at the scene identified the man as the suspect.
