The fatal accident happened early Friday morning just nine miles west of Sweetwater. Two vehicles collided at 2:41 a.m. on Friday in the westbound lane of I-20.
The Texas Department of Public Safety tells KTXS 36-year-old Gustavo Cervantes of Wichita Falls was driving a Dodge Ram. He was traveling east in the westbound passing lane of I-20.
Cerventes collided head on with 41-year-old Cory Carlile of Rowlett.
Rowlett died at the scene.
Cervantes is in incapacitating condition with internal injuries at Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene.
