A fight between two men in Albany has left one man dead, according to the Department of Public Safety.
Anthony Gargus, 36, and Michael Derrid Green, 24, were involved in a fight early Sunday morning on property owned by Green's family.
After the fight became physical, Gargus became unresponsive. First aid was attempted and an ambulance was called. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
KTXS spoke with Gargus's girlfriend who described him as a family man who gave to the community.
He was a construction contractor who was originally from Phoenix, Arizona ans whose work involved Albany's city streets and sidewalks.
He is survived by his son as well as his father, mother and several other relatives.
Gargus' body has been taken to the Tarrant County Medical Examiners Office in Fort Worth for an autopsy. Those results are pending.
The Department of Public Safety said the Texas Rangers have been requested and are assisting in the investigation. The Albany Police Department is leading the investigation.
Officials said Green has been cooperating with law enforcement officials.
DPS describes the investigation as ongoing.
