Ownership of Lakeside Golf Course has been transferred from the Jenala Corporation to the city of Eastland – at no cost.

Taylor Ford, Jenala’s president, is created with making the transfer possible.

“Lakeside Golf Course was a labor of love for my late wife, Jenni, and myself,” Ford said in a news release. “I am pleased to be able to hand over the course in turn-key fashion to the city of Eastland.”

Eastland Mayor Mark Pipkin called the move a “remarkable gesture” by Ford.

“Lakeside not only is an outstanding recreational resource, it is also a key anchor for present and future economic development for our community,” Pipkin said.

The Fords, through The Jenala Corporation, took over ownership of the course in 2004, completing an expansion that doubled the course’s size from nine holes to 18.

“We believe Lakeside Golf Course is one of the best-kept secrets in Texas,” Pipkin said. “We hope to market it far beyond Eastland and we have no doubt that it will attract golfers attention far and wide.”

Pipkin said the course is in “great condition … a tribute to Taylor and Jenni’s stewardship of it.”
