People gather to remember Hailey Dunn 2 years after her disappearance
Dec. 27, 2010, was the last time anyone saw Colorado City teen Hailey Dunn. In memory of the missing girl, a group of people met at her home Thursday afternoon.
There have been hundreds of searches for Hailey in the last two years, but not a single sighting.
Hailey’s mother's live-in boyfriend Shawn Adkins was the last person to see the teen alive. He said she left their house at 2:45 p.m. to walk to her dad's house and then her friend’s for a sleepover, but Hailey never arrived at either location.
Thursday, to observe the two year anniversary of Hailey’s disappearance, a search team met to remember the young girl and pray for her safe return.
"She was a sweet, bubbly personality. She just lit up all the time. You'd walk in a room and she'd just light it up," said Linda Fox who knew Hailey most of her life. "I believe within my heart that she's still out there somewhere and we just got to get her home."
The group of people who show up to pray for Hailey grows smaller all the time.
"Year one it was really hard. We kept thinking, ‘it's only been a year, we can still find her. You know, we're not giving up.’ Year two it is harder to hold out hope," said Kristy Lloyd, one of the Hope for Hailey search coordinators.
Thursday, just seven people met and walked the path Hailey supposedly took the last time she was seen. They dropped rose petals to mark the way.
"That was a horrible day. I got the call. I was out of town and I got the call from my friend telling me that Hailey was missing," said Fox.
Adkins is the last person who saw Hailey and authorities continue to say he's still considered the only person of interest in her disappearance.
