Police capture wanted Abilene man
A 22-year-old man wanted for evading arrest tried to run from police Thursday, only to be captured minutes later.
According to Abilene police, Christopher Minor was wanted in connection with a felony evading arrest from Oct. 27. He was spotted on South 1st Street on Thursday morning. When police attempted to contact Minor, he allegedly fled.
Police caught up with Minor only nine minutes later.
Several officers searched Minor. They say they found a pack of cigarettes containing an unknown substance. That substance was tested and tested positive for the presence of cocaine.
Police took Minor to the Law Enforcement Center for questioning as a person of interest in recent residential burglaries.
Officers with the Street Crimes Unit located Minor's backpack with several items that were identified as stolen property.
Minor was arrested and charged with four felony charges: 2nd-degree felony Manufacture and Delivery of a Controlled Substance (cocaine), two counts of 2nd-degree felony Burglary of a Habitation, and 3rd-degree felony evading arrest from Oct. 27.
Minor also faces three misdemeanor charges: one misdemeanor of evading arrest on Thursday morning and two misdemeanor municipal warrants.
Minor is in the Taylor County Jail.
