HOUSTON (AP) - Houston police are investigating if there is a link between the killing of an Iranian activist nearly a year ago and the more recent shooting death of her boyfriend's twin brother.
The Houston Chronicle reported Saturday Coty Beavers was found dead in his Houston-area apartment on Monday. Authorities say Beavers was shot multiple times. Harris County Sheriff's Office spokesman Thomas Gilliland says investigators have not yet found a connection between Beavers death and the killing of 30-year-old Gelareh Bagherzadeh. He says they are pursuing leads.
The sheriff's office confirmed Beavers was the twin brother of Cory Beavers, Bagherzadeh's boyfriend and the last person to see her alive. She had also been shot to death.
Bagherzadeh was an outspoken critic of Iran's human rights policies.
