Residents in Anson are holding a prayer vigil Thursday night for a 12-year-old boy who was shot in the head in Abilene on Monday.

The event will be held at 7:30 p.m. at Tiger Stadium.

The boy was a passenger in a vehicle that was hit by gunfire. Christopher Mack, 21, was arrested in connection with the shooting.

Police said the 12-year-old was shot in the head and is in critical condition. He was airlifted to Cook Children's Medical Center in Fort Worth. An 8-year-old boy who was also in the car was treated for minor injuries and released to Child Protective Services.
