ABILENE, Texas -

We tracked a weak cold front into the Big Country Thursday afternoon. This front moved to near I-20 and brought scattered showers and thunderstorms to areas mainly north and west of Abilene.

Lightning and gusty winds were the problems. A site in Stamford measured 49 mph winds and just east of Snyder 44 mph winds were recorded Thursday afternoon. However, no significant damage was reported.

Welcomed rainfall also fell in some areas Thursday. Just east of Snyder .81" of rain fell. The airport on the west side of Snyder measured .22". A site near Haskell recorded .20". Near Aspermont, .05" was reported. Rain also fell at Anson, Colorado City, Hamlin, Roby and Hermleigh.
