ABILENE, Texas -

One man was arrested Thursday afternoon in Abilene for allegedly stealing an SUV, which he wound up rolling before he was captured and arrested.

The incident began at the Williams Auto Group in the 2600 block of South 1st Street, when the owner of a Jeep Cherokee exited the vehicle ? and left his keys behind with the engine running.

A man jumped in and took off, followed soon after by the owner giving chase.

The stolen SUV flipped onto its top at the intersection of South 1st and Leggett.

Two off-duty police officers witnessed the accident and arrested the suspect, who allegedly told them that he wanted to go to jail.
