Because of extreme fire danger, the city of San Angelo is restricting fireworks to certain areas at Twin Buttes Reservoir for Fourth of July celebrations.
The designated areas are Twin Buttes Marina Park Road off of U.S. Highway 67 and both sides of the Equalization Channel at the north side of the South Pool and the south side of the North Pool.
City officials are urging residents to put their trash in the dumpsters that will be set up in designated areas. Littering is subject to fines.
The city manages Twin Buttes, which is owned by the Federal Bureau of Reclamation.
City ordinance prohibits the possession, use or sale of fireworks inside city limits, including at Lake Nasworthy.
The city is not under a burn ban, and there are no grilling restrictions inside the city limits. Residents can grill using propane or charcoal but are prohibited from having an open fire on the ground on city property.
