ABILENE, Texas -

Abilene will have at least one contested race for the city council.

Wednesday, Steve Savage announced his campaign for Place 6.

Savage, a 37-year-old Abilene business owner, operates Stinky Steve's Septic and Grease. He is married with three children, with another on the way.

The Cooper High graduate told KTXS why he would like to be on the city council.

"I feel like I can be most effective here within the community.  And there's a lot of issues, here in the city, that need to be addressed.  And, I really love Abilene a lot and want to do my best to make it a better place for everybody to live," Savage said.

Place 6 is currently represented by Kellie Miller. Miller has already filed to run.
