Isolated severe storms moved through much of the Big Country and Concho Valley Monday afternoon and Monday evening. Some of the stronger storms affected Abilene, Brownwood and Breckenridge.
A short line of severe storms moved through Taylor County and Abilene between 7:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. Monday.
Winds gusted to 60 mph at Dyess AFB and 52 mph at the Abilene Regional Airport. At Ovalo, winds are clocked at 43 mph. A site in Hamby recorded 42 mph and at the KTXS studio, winds gusted to 38 mph.
In Brownwood, a strong thunderstorm moved in about 8 p.m. and brought damaging winds and very heavy rainfall. Winds gusted to 48 mph at the Brownwood airport and 45 mph at the KTXS Storm Tracker Network site in downtown Brownwood, which also measured 1.27 inches of rain.
Street flooding was reported in the Brownwood area.
A severe thunderstorm formed near Putnam and moved northeast toward Breckenridge. Quarter size hail was reported in Breckenridge as well and west and north of town.
