A car accident north of Hawley has left a Stamford man dead.

The accident happened in Jones County, about 5 miles north of Hawley.

The Texas Department of Public Safety said the driver, Roy Lee Richards, 42, was going south on Farm Road 1226 when he drifted off the road and tried to over correct.

He flipped the truck.

Richards came away with no injuries but the passenger, Richard Luera, 49, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Luera was not wearing a seat belt.
