Investigators say a Houston-area man who saw a neighborhood couple fighting outside their home has shot and killed the husband to protect the injured wife.
    
The Harris County Sheriff's Office said the 44-year-old husband was dead at the scene Tuesday night.
    
The woman told deputies that her spouse was attacking her when the neighbor noticed the violent scuffle and tried to help the woman. Deputies say the husband hit the neighbor with a brick. The neighbor then pulled a gun and shot the husband.
    
The neighbor was taken to hospital for treatment of a minor head injury. The woman suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene.
    
Names of the three people weren't immediately released. No charges have been filed. A grand jury is expected to review the incident.
