ABILENE, Texas -

Thousands of people lined the streets in Abilene Tuesday, to watch the 24th annual KTXS/WTU Christmas Lights Parade.

Christina Rollins brought her family and joined the masses downtown.

“It’s a part of Abilene. It’s just tradition. The girls expect it every year. We take off work and miss some other things and we come out here every year,” Rollins said.

Downtown Abilene was wall to wall with kids of all ages ready to enjoy the Christmas festivities. Many people said it was a chance to spend time with their friends and family and see the man of the hour, Santa Claus.

People enjoying the Christmas parade spoke about what the holiday means to them. Tanner Underwood said he thinks of Christmas as a chance to enjoy “Spending time with your family, getting to see everybody you haven’t seen in a long time.”

Matthew Fisher, who also spent Tuesday night at the parade, said when he thinks of Christmas he thinks about, “love, joy and spending time with your family.”
