POSTED: 8:29 PM Feb 13 2013
The Taylor County Commissioners are going to help fund a local sting operation that will begin sometime next month.
Non-uniformed law officers will send minors in to convenience stores in an attempt to purchase tobacco products.
In Texas, tobacco products cannot be purchased by anyone under 18 years old.
Texas State University will be working with the Taylor County sheriff's office on the stings which will go on for about 6 months.
Minors who violate the state law and buy tobacco can be fined up to $250.
The place of business could lose their permit to sell tobacco products.
