ABILENE, Texas -

Temperatures climbed into the lower 100s west and north of Abilene Wednesday. These triple digit temperatures should spread east Thursday afternoon and most locations west of a Breckenridge to Coleman line should have triple digit temperatures.

Some relief is expected for Friday as winds turn back to the southeast. This should return some clouds and higher moisture content air back to our area. Look for highs in the lower to middle 90s Friday.

In addition, we could see thunderstorms in our western areas Friday afternoon and Friday evening. Rain chances are forecast to be west of our area for Saturday through Monday.

Temperatures for the long weekend are forecast to range from around 70 in the mornings to the lower 90s in the afternoons.

We are already tracking a cold front that could move through our region Wednesday and bring back chances of rain for late Wednesday.
