An Abilene man who ran for mayor and city council will stand trial in August.

In June 2011, a Taylor County grand jury indicted 40-year-old Ronald Konstantin for threatening a witness before trial.

According to court documents, Konstantin tried to persuade the witness not to testify against him in his trial for tampering with government records.

Documents also say he told the witness they would face criminal charges if they testified.

Konstantin's trial date is set for Aug. 6
