Two people are dead after a two-car accident at the intersection of South 14th and South Danville Drive.
According to the Abilene Police Department, former Wylie High athlete Spencer LaBrie, 19, and Jillian Thomas, 27, were pronounced dead at Hendrick Medical Center about 2:15 a.m. Saturday.
The preliminary investigation revealed that two motor vehicles, a 2008 Nissan Altima and a 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer, had collided in the middle of the intersection.
The investigation discovered that the driver of the Nissan, LaBrie, had failed to stop for a red flashing traffic signal and was broadsided by the Chevrolet who had the right-of-way.
The Chevrolet was traveling east on South 14th Street and was occupied by a female driver, 35-year-old Tiffany Haynes. The Nissan was traveling north on South Danville Drive.
LaBrie and Thomas were both transported by ambulance to Hendrick Medical Center in critical condition.
Next of kin was notified. Haynes sustained minor non-life threatening injuries. She was not transported to a hospital.
Blood samples were taken from both of the involved drivers.
