UPDATE: 1:30pm. Officials with Taylor Electric confirm that power has been restored to the Hawley, Hodges area. They had been without power since shortly after 7pm, yesterday.

Update: 11:00pm Power to thousands of Taylor County residents has been restored. AEP/WTU continues working on the roughly 7,000 customers that are still without power after a severe thunderstorm damaged power lines and blew over trees.

AEP/WTU also reports hundreds have lost power in Callahan County.

A series of large, severe thunderstorms began forming west of Abilene, and quickly moved east.

AEP/WTU and Taylor Electric were unable to provide information as to how long customers can expect the outages to continue.
