PORTLAND, Texas (AP) - Friends and supporters of a same-sex couple gathered in a South Texas park where they were shot a week ago.
Friends and supporters of a same-sex couple gathered in a South Texas park where they were shot a week ago.
They gathered Friday evening at Violet Andrews Park in Portland, about seven miles north of Corpus Christi, one week after Mollie Olgin was shot dead. Police say the 19-year-old Ingleside woman was killed and her 18-year-old girlfriend Mary Chapa was wounded in the shooting on June 23rd.
Many of those friends and supporters had gathered earlier Friday at a memorial service for Olgin.
Police describe the suspected gunman as a 5-foot-8-inch, 140-pound white male in his 20s with dark hair.
Police say they haven't determined a motive, and Police Chief Randy Wright has said there's no evidence suggesting the women's relationship was involved.
