Several agencies worked a large wildfire in Shackelford County on Sunday.
It burned about five miles to the southeast of Lueders.
It was initially reported around 3,100 acres had been affected, but authorities said later it could have been anywhere from 4,000 to 6,000 acres.
Surrounding volunteer fire departments expressed concern with five structures north of the fire, but there have been no reports of any of them burning.
Among the structures threatened was a Baptist encampment currently hosting a church camp.
Kyle Tischler, chief of the Albany Volunteer Fire Department, said firefighters intently watched how close the flames were to the encampment and firefighters were on call in case of evacuation.
"We have a unit out there investigating, scouting out at this moment. They're looking at the direction it's moving. We've got some city engines here, ready to respond in that direction if we need to." Tischler said lSunday.
Late Sunday, the fire was 50 percent contained by approximately 35 firefighters from 10 different surrounding volunteer departments.
