A 24-year-old woman was arrested and charged after she allegedly stole a pickup ? and after a chase through city streets intentionally crashed it into the San Angelo Police Department building.
Arrested was Amanda Jeffreys (DOB 03-29-88) of Manor, Texas, northeast of Austin. Jeffreys was injured in the incident and transported to Shannon Medical Center.

At about 8 p.m. Wednesday, San Angelo police Officers were made aware of a vehicle theft that had just occurred at the 7/11 store located in the 1800 W Beauregard. Officers attempted to conduct a stop on the vehicle. The stolen vehicle was a white Chevrolet dually pickup.
The vehicle failed to stop for marked patrol units, and a vehicle pursuit ensued.
The pursuit lasted about 4 minutes through the north and central areas of San Angelo, and speeds reached approximately 70 miles per hour.
Eventually the pursuit turned eastbound on Beauregard. The driver of the stolen vehicle intentionally drove the vehicle into the northwest corner of the police department building.
The driver was first described as suffering minor injuries as a result of the collision, but she was listed in critical condition by Shannon Hospital officials Thursday.
The collision caused extensive damage to the building and property in the administration portion of the building. The administration section will be closed through at least Monday while the structural integrity of the building is determined.
