Abilene Christian University unveils new 'Maker Lab'
Abilene Christian University unveiled their new Maker Lab, Friday at an open house. It's all about the return of working with your hands. The lab is open to the entire campus and emphasizes integrating different skills from all of their departments.
It's complete with lots of hands on equipment, like a new 3D printer that will help them combine the physical work world with the virtual one.
"You know, we spend a lot of our time in front of screens, pointing or clicking or typing… moving a mouse and you lose some satisfaction from doing things with your hands. So this is an effort to get people back connected to physical projects," said James Langford, Director of Educational Technology at ACU.
This is a non-degree program, and again is offered to everyone, campus wide at ACU.
