Abilene ISD to give tour of strained elementary school at agenda review meeting
Johnston Elementary is the site for Abilene Independent School District's agenda review meeting at 5:30 p.m. Monday.
Principal Roger Thomas will give a tour of the facility and tout the need for voters to pass an $87 million school bond to repair and replace the facilities in the district. The bond calls for Johnston Elementary to be torn down and rebuilt as part of another facility.
The bond will be on the upcoming November ballot.
In addition, the board will discuss AISD’s 2013-2014 campus improvements plan. Board members also will review improvements to both of their alternative schools: Woodson Center for Excellence and Houston SAC.
Monday was the last day to register for early voting in the November election. Early voting begins Oct. 21.
