Abilene ISD's Ashby named new United Way president/CEO
Abilene ISD’s Associate Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction Cathy Ashby has been named the new president/CEO of the United Way of Abilene.
Ashby will replace Dixie Bassett, who is retiring. She will start in the position on July 8.
Geoff Haney, board chair of the United Way of Abilene, made the announcement in a news release Wednesday.
Ashby kicked off her career in AISD in 1986 and has served as a teacher, assistant principal and associate superintendent.
“She brings a long career of leadership in administration, building relationships and developing solutions in our Abilene community,” Haney said in the news release. “Her experiences will be a wonderful addition to the United Way staff, and we look forward to her continued service and leadership in the community.”
Ashby, in the release, said she is “honored and humbled” to be chosen to succeed Bassett.
