The Abilene City Council approved the purchase of handheld electronic ticket writers at Thursday's meeting.

The city will buy 45 of them at a grand total of $178, 360. They'll be used by Abilene police and marshals division to write tickets.

The city says they'll make for a faster process when you do get a ticket, as well as eliminate paperwork and human errors.

No word yet on when the writers will arrive and police will begin using them in the field.
