Abilene woman arrested in Friday's fatal hit-and-run, then released

ABILENE, Texas - A 64-year-old Abilene woman involved in Friday's fatal hit-and-run accident was arrested Wednesday morning and charged with the felony charge of accident involving death.

Teresa Ann Dominy has been released from Taylor County Jail after posting $15,000 bail.

According to a preliminary crash report by the Texas Department of Public Safety, Dominy was driving her SUV on East Stamford Street when she allegedly struck and killed 55-year-old Robbin Caldwell.

Police say Caldwell was walking along the service road between Westlake Road and North Judge Ely Boulevard near the Whistle Stop RV Resort when she was hit. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said the driver didn't stop or call 911 following the collision.

The SUV involved in the crash was found on the side of the road in Potosi.

According to a preliminary crash report by the Texas Department of Public Safety, 64-year-old Teresa Ann Dominy was driving her SUV on East Stamford Street when she struck Caldwell just after midnight.

Court records say Dominy is now facing a second-degree felony charge of accident involving death. Her bond was set at $15,000. Dominy has not yet been arrested.

Police have identified the driver in Friday's hit-and-run accident that left a 55-year-old Abilene woman dead.

The name of the suspect wasn't immediately released.

According to an Abilene Police Department social media message, charges are "pending the investigation" in the case.

"Alcohol does not appear to be (a) factor," APD said.

Police say Robbin Caldwell was walking along the service road when she was hit by an unknown vehicle just after midnight. The accident occurred near the Whistle Stop RV Resort between Westlake Road and North Judge Ely Boulevard. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

 

The driver did not stop or call 911.
