ACU women's basketball camp numbers grow after big season

ABILENE, TX - Over at ACU, Thursday marked the final day of the first women's basketball camp of the summer.

This one was for youngsters in kindergarten through 7th grade, honing important fundamental skills as many of the girls will participate in team and travel basketball this next school year.

ACU Girls camp is directed by ACU Women's head coach Julie Goodenough and her assistant coaches with support from ACU student-athletes. The coaching staff serves as Christian role models who lead campers in physical, mental, social and spiritual growth.

Coming off a historic season that included their first Southland Conference title and WNIT invitation, Coach Goodenough notices how popular the camp has become.

"Our numbers are really high for the camps coming up next week and I would attribute that to the really great season that we had and the fact that the campers get to come and hang out with our Wildcats," said Goodenough.

 There will be two overnight camps up next. The first for 3rd-8th grade on June 19th- 21st. The second will be fir 7th-12th graders on June 22nd through 24th.

A day shooting camp for 7th grade – 12th grade will take place June 24th, followed by an elite camp on the 25th. The elite camp for varsity players in 9th – 12th grade.

Finally, the summer camp schedule for the Wildcat women wraps up with the highly anticipated high school team camp, August 5th and 6th.
