ABILENE, Texas - There's a new chairman of the board for Workforce Solutions of West Central Texas.
Thursday at their regular meeting, Steve Cunningham, Sr. Vice President & branch manager, for First Financial Bank was selected. Cunningham is a graduate of Abilene Christian University and has over 38 years of experience in business, public relations, advertising, and management with extensive experience in banking and education.

On Wednesday, August 21, 2013, the Workforce Solutions of West Central Texas Board held its regular scheduled meeting at the Taylor County Plaza, 400 Oak Street, Abilene, Texas. Steve Cunningham, Sr. Vice-President with First Financial Bank was elected as Chairman. Laura Terhune, Chief Executive Officer of Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce was elected as Vice Chair and Susan Hodges, Administrator LNFA of the Community Care Center of Stamford, will serve as Secretary-Treasurer.
The new Chairman of the Board, Steve Cunningham, received his BBA in Business Administration in May 1975 from Abilene Christian University, Abilene, Texas. He has continued his training and education in estate planning, endowment and fundraising, school management, consumer and commercial lending.
Mr. Cunningham has over 38 years of experience in business development, public relations, marketing, advertising, human resources and general business management with extensive experience in banking and education. Mr. Cunningham began his banking career with First State Bank of Abilene. In 1989, Mr. Cunningham was named President and CEO of Abilene Christian Schools. He directed operations at Abilene Christian Schools, where he successfully eliminated the debt of the facility, increased enrollment by 44% and increased endowment funding. In August of 2004, he became Sr. Vice President and Branch Manager of the Judge Ely Branch of First Financial Bank. Currently, Mr. Cunningham is the Sr. Vice-President & Branch Manager-Downtown Branch of First Financial Bank Abilene. The downtown location is the flagship branch and home of First Financial Bankshares.
Mr. Cunningham's community past commitments have included TSTC-Advisory Community Counsel, Abilene Chamber of Commerce Board and Executive Committee, West Central Texas Council of Governments/Council Finance Board Member, Abilene Christian Schools Board of Trustees, Kiwanis Club Board, and KACU (National Public Radio) Advisory Board. Currently, he serves on the KACU Legacy Board, Global Samaritan Resources Board, Member of Abilene Chamber of Commerce, Financial Aid Committee for Abilene Christian Schools and recently elected as Chairman of Workforce Solutions of WCT Board.
Chairman Cunningham said, "As Board Chair, I believe that our Board needs to know its mission and tap the resources that abound in our region. I was involved in education for a number of years and understand the importance of an educated and prepared workforce."
