Middle school girls learn to be G.R.E.A.T. at ATEMS High School

ABILENE, Texas - From chemistry to physics, ATEMS High School held a science camp on Saturday for girls only.

Only 75 middle school girls were admitted into the new program called G.R.E.A.T., which stands for, "Girls Researching Engineering and Technology."

Professors from Abilene Christian University taught hands-on experiments. Even though it began early in the morning, many of the young learners said they were having a great time.

"Everybody just participates in {experiments} and they really like the {experiments} after they do something even though they probably think it's boring at first but then they really get into it, they really like it," said one participant.

Each girl received lunch and a free t-shirt.
