Therapy dogs help students prepare for finals

ABILENE, Texas - Therapy dogs were invited to Hardin-Simmons University Sunday to help students study for their finals.

The Richardson Library hosted the therapy dogs from Hendrick Medical Center. The friendly dogs were invited to give students a positive start to final exams, which begin Monday.

One therapy dog specialist said the dogs can sense things that humans cannot.

"When you're stressed and trying to learn at the same time it just doesn't happen," said Donna McGehee. "If you come down and put your hands on something, and just relax. Everybody knows if you're relaxed in a learning environment you learn a whole lot better."

Students were able to pet, play and de-stress with the dogs until 6 p.m. in the library lobby.
