Tips for voters on Election Day

It's here! Election Day

ABILENE, Texas - It's been the most expensive presidential election ever. Both parties have spent more than one billion dollars to get their candidate elected to office. Tuesday, the country will find out who it paid off for.

27,000 people took advantage of early voting this year, but for those who didn't, election judges and poll workers spent Monday setting up for Tuesday's election. The polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Election Day. The Taylor County Elections Office wants to remind people not to show up empty handed.

"Voters should bring their voter registration certificate or their driver's license," said Kristi Allyn, Taylor County Elections Administrator.

The Taylor County Elections Office is not a polling place for Election Day. Voters must cast their ballot in their precinct.

About 4,000 fewer Taylor County residents are registered to vote this year than there were in 2008. The Taylor County Elections Office said people who want to avoid the crowd should hit the polls early.

"Usually after 5 pm the lines get really long so I would recommend doing it sometime during the day," Allyn said.
