Trucks, buses inspected for safety during nationwide Roadcheck

ABILENE, Texas - The Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance and Department of Public Safety are conducting their annual roadside checks for commercial vehicles.

Roadcheck, the three-day event, is from June 3-5 and consisted of a 37-step checklist. The purpose is to make sure drivers and their vehicles are maintaining the safety requirements.

Drivers have to present their licensing and items such as braking system, fuel system, lights, safe loading, steering and windshield wipers are checked.

"[We] check their log book for how much they've been driving that day and we also go as far as to check for aggressive driving from the passenger vehicles too, which is a huge cause of the commercial vehicles having crashes," Fred Biddle, Department of Public Safety Trooper, said.
