UPDATE: Police say speeding involved in Seabee Park motorcycle crash

ABILENE, Texas - The driver of a motorcycle that rear-ended a van near Lake Fort Phantom has been cited for speeding.

David Cogburn, 28, was driving the motorcycle, while Nikki Guaman, 24, was the passenger.

Police say Cogburn told them he was talking to Guaman and rear-ended the van.

The accident happened after 2 p.m. Wednesday on FM 600 by Seabee Park in north Abilene.

According to law enforcement, Cogburn sailed into the minivan's back window. His helmet was found inside the minivan and his face was cut, officials said.

Guaman flew off the motorcycle and landed past the minivan, law enforcement said.

Both are said to have serious injuries and were taken to Hendrick Medical Center. Authorities at the scene say alcohol may have been a factor, but the investigation revealed Cogburn wasn't intoxicated.

Cogburn was cited for speeding, having no insurance, no valid license, no valid license plate, and no proper vehicle registration.
