Wednesday's Abilene rainfall totals

ABILENE, Texas - Wednesday saw a few heavy thundershowers across West Texas.

Abilene was an interesting case as a slow moving storm rolled in during the mid-afternoon hours. Varying amounts were recorded with the heaviest rainfall on the north side of the city.

Seven fire stations serving Abilene collected the following rain totals:

Northside Stations

Station 1: 1.81"

Station 2: 1.67"

Station 3: 0.82"

Station 4: 0.61"

Southside Stations

Station 5: 0.43"

Station 6: 0.38"

Station 7: Trace

Abilene Regional Airport, which is located on the southeast side of the city, logged 0.27," while Abilene Dyess, located on the west side of Abilene, recorded only 0.06." Our rain gauge here at the KTXS Studio collected 0.65" of water.

Thursday morning has seen additional heavy rainfall scattered about our northern counties. Scattered activity may in fact work its way back down to Abilene Thursday afternoon. The forecast gets much drier over the holiday weekend.
