Abilene ISD hosting meetings about middle school standardized dress proposal
In light of a fairly recent proposal for a standardized dress code for Abilene Independent School District middle school students - parents and community members will have a chance Monday to attend informational meetings.
The proposal came up in May and was presented to the AISD Board of Trustees. After getting feedback from parents and community members, school principals are expected to report their findings to the board in the spring semester.
If the board approves the proposal, the dress code will be implemented in the 2014-2015 school year. According to AISD, the dress code would not force students to wear uniforms, it would require students to choose from a “flexible” selection of clothing. Elementary and high school campuses would not be affected.
Informational meetings will be held at Craig and Madison middle schools from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Monday.
