BROWNWOOD, Texas - A little more than 2,200 students from Brown County are participating in this years fair.
Everything from showing livestock to modeling clothes is offered to the youth.
Monday was all about the fashion. Clothing was modeled in the Home Economics building at the fair grounds, and some of the seamstresses have been creating outfits since they've been able to read.
Briana Smith has been sewing for the Brown County Youth Fair Clothing Division since the 3d grade.
Her grandmother started her sewing obsession.
"When I was little, it was just kind of a way that me and her bonded together," said Smith.
Now, 10 years later, Briana is a Senior at Early High School and is competing in the Senior Formal Wear Division.
Briana said formal wear is the toughest division, but is confident her dress will measure up.
"I love the fabric because it's glittery and wild and cool, and I have kind of a spunky personality," said Smith.
After high school, Briana plans to continue honing her seamstress skills.
"I'm going to Africa to work in orphanages after high school, and I would love to be able to take my skills and be able to teach them," said Briana.
If Briana wins this year, it wouldn't be her first time.
"It would be amazing because it's my last year, and just to go out with a bang. I got Grand Champion last year," said Briana.
The formal wear winner will be chosen tomorrow and they will receive $125.
