BROWNWOOD, Texas -

If you're looking for a summer activity, Brown County's Camp Bowie may be the place to go. The Camp Bowie Family Aquatic Center will be opening from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

David Withers, Brownwood’s parks and recreation director, said the pool is a place for people of all ages.

"When we designed this, we wanted something not just for the small kids or not just for the teenaged, but something that would meet the needs of everyone that came out," Withers said. "It's nice to have something local for people to come do. It makes me very proud to have something of this quality for the city of Brownwood."

Crews sprayed water and cleaned the tables on Wednesday, as they got ready for the weekend's opening.

Kids ages 12 and under get in for $2 and kids 13 and up get in for $3. Admission fees for seniors are $1.75.

The pool capacity is at 424 people. Withers said about 36 lifeguards are employed to help ensure safety.

The pool will reopen officially for the season on June 2. That's when many of the lifeguards end school so they can assume their summer duties.
