Child welfare check leads to arrest of 3 Abilene teens on drug charges

ABILENE, Texas - Three Abilene teens were arrested Thursday after police were called to check the welfare of a young child at a south Abilene apartment.

Taken into custody were Hunter Yarbrough, 19; Austin Baker, 18, and Keith Rader, 18.

The three were charged with state jail felony possession of marijuana after patrol officers noticed a “strong odor of marijuana” at the apartment.

Agents discovered 7.5 ounces of high-level THC marijuana and one pound of edible marijuana, the Abilene Police Department said Friday.

“The child was removed from the home and left with a different family member,” police said.

KTXS will provide additional details when they become available.
