When you add up the various tax entities, Taylor County residents should be ready to shell out more for taxes next fiscal year.
It will come to about $11 more a month for homeowners in Abilene ISD and about $6 more each month for homeowners in Wylie ISD – with a home valued at $100,000 in 2013.
AISD and Wylie ISD have finalized their tax rates. The city of Abilene and Taylor County have a proposed rate, but are still awaiting public hearings.
What are the rates?
Taylor County: The proposed rate, awaiting public hearings is 52 cents per $100 valuation, up from 50.47 cents.
City of Abilene: The proposed rate, awaiting public hearings is 68.6 cents per $100 valuation. That’s flat from 2013.
AISD: This finalized rate is $1.2175, up from $1.1501 per $100 valuation. All of that increase is from the school bond approved by voters in November.
WISD: This finalized rate is $1.04 per $100 valuation. This is flat from 2013.
Figuring in a 2.5 percent increase in home valuations for 2014-2015 from the Taylor County Central Appraisal District means a home valued at $100,000 in 2013-2014 would be valued at $102,500 in 2014-2015.
That homeowner would see their taxes increase by about $11 a month. That would run about $6 a month more for a home in Wylie ISD.
