DPS: Officer-involved shooting reported on I-20 near Cisco

EASTLAND COUNTY,  Texas -- Texas Rangers are investigating an officer-involved shooting on Interstate 20 near Cisco.

Department of Public Safety spokesman Sgt. Frederick Biddle confirmed that a shooting had happened and couldn’t release additional details. Biddle didn't say which agency's officer fired at the victim.

Authorities haven't released the suspect's condition, but his body was seen being put into a black bag.

Traffic backed up on I-20, as law enforcement worked the scene.

According to Cisco dispatch, the officer-involved shooting unfolded after a traffic accident on I-20, three miles west of Cisco, about 7:30 a.m. Friday.

"It's been going on all day," the Cisco worker told KTXS.

According to Cisco police, a department Facebook post -- on Friday morning -- described what had transpired.

"An armed individual fled the scene of a motor vehicle accident at [approximately] 7:35 a.m. and headed north near the 327MM (mile marker) on I-20," the Facebook post said. "Individual is a Hispanic male, [approximately] 6'2", last seen wearing a white shirt. If seen please call Eastland County dispatch or 911."
